6 Teenagers Arrested In Atlantic City Carjackings: Police

The Atlantic City Police Department arrested six juveniles and charged them with carjacking and other related offenses following two separate incidents, authorities said.

On Nov. 29, at 8:56 p.m., patrol officers responded to the beach block of south Raleigh Avenue in reference to a carjacking. Officers located the victim, 68, of Atlantic City, suffering from injuries sustained during the incident. The victim was assaulted by a group of males who stole the victim’s car. The victim was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation was commenced by detectives of the Criminal Investigations Section. The day after the incident, the victim’s vehicle was located by the Pleasantville Police Department. During the investigation, two juveniles were reported as runaways by their family. Detectives determined that these two juveniles were suspects in the carjacking. They were both later located and arrested. As the investigation continued, three additional suspects were arrested.

On Dec. 16, two of the suspects involved in the Raleigh Avenue incident were arrested following a carjacking at Ocean Casino Resort. At 10:49 p.m., patrol officers responded to the parking garage in reference to a victim, 72, of Brick, who was pulled from their vehicle by three males. The suspects stole the vehicle and fled the parking garage. The victim was not injured. Security personnel were able to provide officers with surveillance coverage of the suspects.

Shortly after, patrol officers located the vehicle and the driver fled from officers leading them on a pursuit that left Atlantic City. The pursuit was called off after becoming an increased risk to the public. At 12:25 a.m., the stolen vehicle was located in the area of the 700 block of Arctic Avenue. Officers Moustafa Maarouf and Jennifer Sanchez located three males in the area. They were identified as the suspects and arrested.
